Abraham Gallery to host Plains Art Association show
Wayland Baptist University's Abraham Art Gallery will host the Plains Art Association's 41st Spring Art Show and Sale May 27 - June 28.
Entries for the juried show will be accepted on May 20 from 3 - 7 p.m. at the gallery, located in the Mabee Learning Resources Center on the Wayland campus. Entries may include works in a variety of categories, from oil, acrylic, water media, pastels and graphics, to photography and other art forms (including fiber arts, textiles, jewelry, pottery and sculpture). All work must be original work completed in the last two years, and works completed under supervision such as a workshop or class are not eligible. Pieces previously exhibited in a PAA show are also not eligible.
Entry fees, payable to PAA, are $6 per entry for PAA members and $8 for non-members. Exhibitors may choose to offer their pieces for sale, with a commission charge going to the PAA.
A variety of honor awards and cash awards will be given in each category as well as some purchase awards provided by local patrons. The show is also sponsored in part by a grant from the Plainview Cultural Arts Council.
"Plains Art Association Spring juried Show is supported by a number of area businesses and individuals who provide memorial awards and purchase awards for artists," said Dr. Candace Keller, show chairman and art professor at Wayland. "The Plainview community has always given great support to the arts, and Wayland is delighted to host the exhibit this year."
Dr. Emilio Caballero, former chair of the art department at West Texas A&M University, will serve as juror for the show. He has received many honors both as an artist and art educator.
