Music students present marathon of Mozart music

      PLAINVIEW - Voice students at Wayland Baptist University will join forces to present a recital of work by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, slated for Monday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the atrium of the Mabee Learning Resources Center. The event is free and open to the public.

              The recital will feature a variety of pieces by the Austrian composer, including pieces from three operas - Cosi fan tutte, the Marriage of Figaro, and Don Giovanni - as well as two masses and other songs, ensembles and canons.

              Mozart's comic cat duet has also been translated by Christa Smith, associate professor of modern languages and English, for inclusion in the program.

              Students performing are voice students of Dr. Carl Moman, professor of music, Jennie Lynn Hodges, associate professor of music, and Robert Black, assistant professor of music.

              Scheduled performers include Alan Yarbrough, Sara Wagoner, Sarah Gatlin, Jessica Lynch, Ashlee Hester, David Harper, Ariel Smeaton, Mariah Street, Marleny Morales, Laura Gillaspie, Marta Turpin, Bethany Chollar, Cara Coffey, Jacob Bassing, Amy Grisham, Jamar Jordan, Labrina Lang, James Moss, John Ed Baker and Josh Harris.

              Accompanists will include Hodges, Polly Morgan, and students Anne Weaver, Abby Holmes and Cara Coffey.
