FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Wayland Baptist University campus in Fairbanks will be under new leadership beginning this fall as Nancy Wagner, Ed.D., takes over as Executive Director and Campus Dean. Wagner replaces Dr. John Copeland who moved from Fairbanks to take the Dean’s position at the WBU campus in Albuquerque, N.M.

Wagner comes to Wayland after serving as superintendent for the North Star Borough School District in Fairbanks, a position she held from 2007-2010. Wagner has worked as a public educator since 1983, teaching physics and mathematics in the classroom in Blountville, Tenn. She has also served as a high school principal in Johnson City, Tenn. then worked her way through the administration before moving to Fairbanks in 2007.

Dr. Elane Seebo, Vice President of External Campuses and Graduate Services at Wayland, said Wagner was an obvious choice for the position.

““We are indeed fortunate that Dr. Wagner will be joining the Wayland family,” Seebo said.  “Her outstanding professional and civic leadership skills coupled with a keen understanding of both the military and civilian communities in the Fairbanks area will make her an invaluable asset for us.”

Wagner holds an Ed.D. degree in administration, as well as an Education Specialist degree, from East Tennessee State University. She also has a master’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics.. Wagner served as an adjunct professor at Wayland last fall.
