New Location for Clovis Campus

CLOVIS, N.M. -- Wayland Baptist University held a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house last Friday at the Clovis campus’ new location.

Wayland had to evacuate their previous location in downtown Clovis in September 2013 due to structural concerns. Last week the campus moved into their new permanent location in The Master’s Centre building. The new building is centrally located in Clovis at 810 E. 21st Street.

At the ribbon cutting ceremony Wayland President Dr. Paul Armes, spoke about the university’s appreciation and excitement that the Clovis campus has been able to successfully make the transition into this new location.

“We have watched Clovis over these last 16 to 18 years adapt to a lot of changes and you have come through them strongly and positively,” Armes said. “You are a vibrant community and it is our honor to be here.”

Clovis Mayor, David Lansford, expressed his gratitude for having Wayland in Clovis and the positive effect that Wayland has on the community.

“I want to congratulate all the staff, leadership, board and everybody involved in Wayland on this decision to move out here to a really nice building and increasing your visibility in the community,” Lansford said. “It is just special to have you in Clovis… It really instills a lot of pride in us that you are willing to come and invest in our community and add educational and cultural value to our community.”

Armes concluded his portion of the ceremony by thanking all those who contributed to make the move to the new location possible.

“Please know that we do cherish this partnership and we are grateful for this opportunity,” Armes said. “We believe this new beginning for us at this new location holds great promise.”

Wayland Baptist University is based in Plainview and operates 12 external campuses in six states.
