Pair recital set for October 11

PLAINVIEW – Mark Anthony Pair, Piano Artist in Residence at Wayland Baptist University, will be featured in a piano concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, in Wayland’s Harral Memorial Auditorium.

“Vicissitudes into Twilight” is a musical look at those moments and events in life through which individuals develop spiritually. Through his performance, Pair strives to convey the peace, solace and comfort found within the chosen compositions.

The program begins with a Schumann melody, creating moods of spiritual thought. Other compositions from composers such as Brahms and Liszt move the emotions through rest and unrest, reaching the apex in the benediction.

This is Pair’s 101st concert on the Wayland stage since the fall of 1966. He taught private piano and music theory for 36 years at Wayland, and upon retirement became the university’s first Piano Artist in Residence.

Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
