Wayland Baptist offers 1 doctoral-level program and offers fourteen master’s-level programs in distinct disciplines such as business, religion, counseling, and education. Our graduate programs are dedicated to the integration of faith and learning, and offer well-rounded experiences focused on producing competent and intelligent professionals and leaders. Doctor of Management

The Doctor of Management is as 60-hour professional degree program designed to prepare graduates to apply research techniques and theories to create the most effective environment and practices for global business enterprises in the commercial, nonprofit, governmental, military or higher education sectors. As practitioners, consultants or faculty members, graduates will apply critical evaluation of the quality and applicability of published business research coupled with research operations and systems analysis to develop innovative approaches to issues in the areas of management, organizational behavior and human resource management.

Master of Arts in Counseling

The Master of Arts in Counseling program is designed to meet the needs of working adults, with classes offered on weekends and online. The program can be completed in two years and prepares students to sit for the state board exams as a school counselor and/or licensed professional counselor.

Master of Arts in Criminal Justice

The Master of Arts in Criminal Justice degree prepares students to move from the acquisition to the application of knowledge necessary to address the problems related to crime and justice within our society. This program equips students to be effective agents of change in a complex system by providing a complete understanding of the social and legal aspects of crime.

Master of Arts in English

The 37-hour Master of Arts in English program is designed to prepare students for teaching, further graduate work, creative writing, or related writing and research fields.  Two options or tracks are available, each requiring a total of 37 graduate hours:  The thesis-option track requires 6 hours of thesis and an oral defense, while the non-thesis track requires 6 additional hours of coursework.  Both the thesis and the non-thesis track require a written comprehensive exam.

Master of Arts in Humanities

The degree requires 37 hours, with a minimum of 18 hours in one of three disciplines–English, History, or Religion. An additional 18 hours can be completed in a second discipline, or the student may choose to split the remaining 18 hours between the other two disciplines. For the last or 37th credit hour, the student must successfully complete the comprehensive exam in one of the areas of specialization. Students may not complete more than 24 hours in one of the three areas; those who wish to do so should pursue the Master of Arts in the specific area .

Master of Arts in History

The Master of Arts in History program is designed to meet the needs of working adults, with classes offered completely online. This online program can be completed in six terms and prepares students to teach at the college level or enter a doctoral program in history. 

Master of Arts in Management

< The Master of Arts in Management program is designed to meet the needs of working professionals who are looking to advance their careers as managers and business leaders. The program integrates a well-rounded academic approach and offers specializations in health care administration, human resource management, organization management.

Master of Arts in Religion

The Master of Arts in Religion program is designed to meet the needs of adults who are looking to advance or enter their careers as pastors or church staff ministers. The program is offered to supplement the Master of Divinity degree from seminaries and typically serves students looking to live and work in west Texas, eastern New Mexico, and western Oklahoma.

Master of Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration program is designed to meet the needs of motivated individuals who want to take heightened positions of leadership in business and industry. The program offers specializations in accounting, general business, health care administration, human resource management, international management, management, management information systems, and project management.

Master of Christian Ministry

The Master of Christian Ministry program is designed to meet the needs of students wishing to take on ministry roles in the church or in church-related fields of ministry. Courses within this program are typically accepted into the Master’s of Divinity degree at selected seminaries.

Master of Divinity

The Master of Divinity is the standard professional degree for individuals entering Christian ministry. For a variety of reasons, however, many individuals find themselves actively engaged in ministry and unable to relocate to a school providing the
M.Div. The School of Religion and Philosophy offers a Master of Divinity program that can
be completed fully online or through a combination of face to face classes at one of Wayland’s many campuses.

Master of Education

The Master of Education program is designed to meet the needs of teachers and students looking to enter the teaching field. The program emphasizes curriculum, instruction, and educational leadership and offers individual tracks that lead to teacher certification, school administration, and professional studies.

Master of Public Administration

The Master of Public Administration program is designed to meet the needs of working adults, with courses offered on weekends and online. The program caters to individuals looking to enter a career or advance their careers within government or justice administration fields.

Master of Science in Multidisciplinary Science

The Master of Science in Multidisciplinary Science program is designed to meet the needs of teachers and emphasizes the study of the physical and natural sciences.  

Master of Science in Nursing

The Master of Science in Nursing prepares nurses to be able to teach in either nursing education programs or other organizations that need an educator. It also prepare nurses with the ability to manage an educational program. The degree focuses on curriculum development, teaching strategies , evaluation, and adult learning. It also has a second focus that educates the student in the areas of business.
