Why A Scholarship Gala?

With its main campus in Plainview, Texas, Wayland Baptist University is the oldest university in continuous existence on the High Plains of Texas, having been founded in 1908 as the result of a generous gift by Dr. J.H. Wayland.
Wayland’s Lubbock campus is one of 13 external campuses around the world which embrace the university’s commitment to academic excellence, devotion to individual service, and dedication to a Christian heritage that stretches back more than a century. Total enrollment at the 14 locations during the fall 2014 term stood at 5,536 students, with enrollment at the Lubbock campus being the third-largest, at 572.

As one of the least-expensive Christian universities in the country, scholarship dollars buy more faith-based education at Wayland than virtually any other place in America. Nevertheless, more than 90 percent of all Wayland students – including those at the Lubbock campus – receive financial aid, and more than 54 percent need more than we can give.

The Wayland Baptist University Lubbock campus currently manages a total of 12 endowed scholarship funds, valued at more than $1.5 million. With your support for the 2016 event, we will grow those numbers.

Thank you in advance for your help!
